The main weapon that we use, and also were issued during the war, is the Sharps Cavalry Carbine, either Model 1859 or 1863. It is called a breech-loader because you load the ammunition from the breech or back of the barrel.

Loading Directions:

0. Remove spent percussion cap. (only if re-loading after being fired)

1. Pull hammer to Half-Cock. (1st click)

2. Open the breech.

3. Remove a fresh cartridge from cartridge box.

4. Place said cartridge into the breech with approx. 1/2" of tail sticking out.

5. Close breech, therefore cutting off the tail and exposing powder.

6. Remove a fresh cap from the cap box.

7. Place said cap on the cone.

8. Bring to Ready.

9.  Pull hammer to Full- Cock.

10. Aim.

11. Fire.

12. Repeat from step zero.
